Automated External Defibrillator
According to OSHA, there are around 220,000 cases of sudden cardiac arrest in the United States every year, with about 10,000 of them occurring at work. Only 5-7% of them survive because of the delay due to waiting for the emergency medical personnel. With immediate defibrillation, 60% of the cardiac arrest victims can be resuscitated.
This course Automated External Defibrillator explores the causes of sudden cardiac arrest, and describes the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and explains how to use it in case of a sudden cardiac arrest.
After taking this course, the learner will be able to:
- List the causes of sudden cardiac arrest
- Explain how ventricular fibrillation can be reversed with an AED
- Perform the initial 3 links in the Chain of Survival
- Explain how to use an AED
